Chapter 1

Introduction

This message contains a set of advice and observations focusing on the daily behavior of a Muslim on the Internet, presented in a simple and understandable style for the reader, regardless of their background.

Most of us use the Internet in our daily lives, whether at work or at home. Children use it before adults do. Who among us does not own a device connected to the Internet? Some of us can hardly bear an hour or two without being online—sending a message here, waiting for another there, or searching for information that could not be found otherwise. The Internet has become an indispensable tool, an essential part of life in our age.

Hardly a day passes without our using the Internet, and along the way we may encounter negatives or matters that go against Islamic teachings. For this reason, I wished to record some of these observations and guidelines to help make a Muslim’s experience on the Internet purer and more suitable, hoping that Allah will make them beneficial.
